If you’ve visited the farm, then you have probably seen our poor old shed. It had a rotten roof, rotten siding, and only a single garage style door going into the main portion. There were trees growing over it and dropping branches and other material on it, but we couldn’t get up there to clean it off because the roof would give out! It was a big mess!
Well, this summer we were able to get around to renovating it. We first had the trees around the shed trimmed up and a few that were leaning too far over it taken down. You can see them taking down one of the trees and how the shed started out in the following video:
We then found someone that had a lot of experience constructing barns, sheds, and other out buildings that was based near us to do the renovation work. We opted to go for higher quality materials so that it would last a long time. The roof was upgraded to a beautiful black metal roof with new gutters that feed into 375 gallon totes. We added three windows to bring light into the shed as well as a side-door with another window to make accessing the shed even easier! We painted it the same green as our chicken coop / rabbitry, but still have some trim work to paint. The corners of the shed are all wrapped in the same metal material as the roof for added protection and a clean finishing touch.
The next project we are beginning to work on is the drainage around the shed to prevent the water issues the plagued the shed before. The second picture in the gallery above shows the beginnings of this process where we will be making a channel around the uphill side of the shed to divert water out and around the shed when it rains. We are very happy with the work that was done and would highly recommend the company that did the work, so if you have a construction project and are looking for the right man for the job, just let us know and we’ll get you in touch!
