We enjoyed some warm weather this weekend. With temperatures tipping over 50 degrees the bees emerged for a break from the hive. They were flying around the hive checking on things so we took the opportunity to check on them.
Since we are expecting several more days of warmth we put a third of the feeder of syrup in for them to get a little boost.
We are very excited to see so many bees because this is our first hive to make it through the winter, despite having the coldest and harshest winter in years for this area! We think this must be a good queen so we’ll try to make some new queens from her to put into our new hives that we are getting in late March.
